To facilitate the rescue operation, rescuers have carved out space for a vertical drilling platform by cutting into the mountain above the Uttarkashi tunnel.

On the 11th day of rescue operations in Uttarkashi tunnel, drilling equipment has successfully penetrated 39 meters of debris, clearing over half of the estimated 60 meters. This progress aims to facilitate the insertion of a pipe, which is crucial for aiding the trapped workers in their escape.

Drilling operations, which had been on hold since November 17, resumed late on Tuesday and achieved notable progress. A significant breakthrough occurred as drilling advanced 39 meters through the debris, gaining momentum after overcoming a challenging rock formation that had caused a substantial delay in the rescue efforts.

To facilitate the rescue operation, rescuers have carved out space for a vertical drilling platform by cutting into the mountain above the Uttarkashi tunnel.

Furthermore, there are plans to construct a micro tunnel perpendicular to the existing tunnel from the left side of the tunnel mouth, although this undertaking is anticipated to require a considerable amount of time.
