“BJP’s ‘OP Lotus’ In Delhi Ahead Of Results”: AAP

February 8th will decide the future of the national capital. The voting for Delhi’s 70 assembly seats concluded on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.42 per cent. The voting day was filled with a fierce game of accusations of electoral fraud and malpractices between the AAP and BJP.

But, just a day before the results and after the exit polls predicting BJP’s win, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal called for a meeting. The top candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party and all the 70 candidates for the assembly elections were present during the closed-door meeting.

This is all in response to the AAP’s allegations that the Bharatiya Janata party is attempting to persuade AAP candidates to join the saffron party.

Ahead of the results, Kejriwal accused the BJP of attempting to poach 16 party candidates. He alleged that “the AAP candidates received offers from the BJP with the promise of ministerial positions and Rs 15 crore each if they switched sides.”

Chief minister Atishi questioned the BJP in a post on X. She wrote, “If the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 50 seats, then why are they trying to break our candidates by contacting them?”

Atishi further said that the exit polls predicting a BJP win in Delhi were part of a “conspiracy” designed to demoralise AAP candidates.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh also raised the issue in a press conference. He claimed that “seven AAP MLAs had either received calls or were approached personally with offers from BJP leaders.

He further wrote: “This clearly shows that the BJP has accepted its defeat even before the results”.

According to reports, the Aam Aadmi Party is now busy gathering evidence. All the candidates have been instructed to record their phone calls if any BJP leader tries to contact them. They have also been asked to secretly film any in-person meetings with BJP leaders using hidden cameras.

Along with these instructions, the AAP leaders are also asked to remain alert on the result day.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and candidates like former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi Minister Imran Hussain arrived at Kejriwal’s residence on Feroz Shah Road for the important AAP meeting.

The meeting began at 11:30 in the morning.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party dismissed these allegations. The BJP also warned the Aam Aadmi Party of legal action.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva dismissed the claims, calling them a reflection of AAP’s “frustration” over a likely electoral defeat.

Furthermore, BJP leader Tarun Chugh dismissed the claims, calling them baseless. He said, “All these allegations are the product of the evil mind of Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP-DA party because they know they are going to lose badly (the Delhi Elections)… Strict legal action should be taken against this lie.”

Following the BJP’s complaint against the AAP’s allegations, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena ordered an anti-corruption branch (ACB) investigation into the alleged matter.

A statement from VK Saxena’s office read, “The Lieutenant Governor has desired that this matter merits a thorough investigation through the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to establish the truth in the matter”.

The Lt Governor said that “the matter merited an investigation and directed authorities to examine the allegations. An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team reached Mr Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence today to question him. AAP has said that it will register a formal complaint with the ACB over what it called “an attempt to break” its members.”

However, high drama was witnessed outside Kejriwal’s residence. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team was denied entry inside the premises. Reports suggest that the ACB has formed three teams to probe the matter.

An advocate representing Kejriwal said, “The ACB team had no authorization to take action.” “They don’t have any document. All this is a conspiracy by the BJP to create a political drama”.

Well, Speculations are high, predictions are on, allegations, counter-allegations, and war of words are all ongoing. But, the exit polls are predicting a different story. The exit polls projected a landslide victory for the BJP and a defeat for AAP and Congress.

The results tomorrow can only determine whether Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP will be ousted from Delhi or Make a comeback. However, according to predictions, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may have to remain in opposition.

According to Axis My India poll data, the BJP will make a comeback in the national capital after 27 years. The exit poll data predicted 45 -55 seats for the BJP. However, the AAP is unlikely to win more than 15 to 25 seats, and the Congress Party will win 0-1 seats.

Well, if the exit polls are correct, the BJP will win Delhi by a landslide following its wins in Maharashtra and Haryana last year.
