Boyfriend Kills Teen Girlfriend, Commits Suicide

A 19-year-old lady who had been missing for 34 days was discovered dead in the Kharghar neighbourhood of Navi Mumbai. According to the police investigation, her killer was her abandoned boyfriend, who killed himself by jumping in front of a passing train.

In a suicide note that was found on his cell phone, the man had left behind a code. Investigators worked for days to break the code, which was the number of a tree that forest officials had marked. Police stated on Wednesday that the code assisted them in locating the woman’s body.

According to an official, the accused, who was upset that the woman had severed her relationship with him, allegedly strangled the woman to death in the Kharghar Hills. On December 12, the woman departed for her college in Sion and never returned. The Kalamboli police station lodged a missing person case reported by her mother.

According to the official, police during the investigation learnt that a resident of Kalamnboli named Vaibhav Burungale had committed suicide on December 12 by jumping in front of a local train that was running at Juinagar railway station.

Meanwhile, a special task force was formed by Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe to investigate the matter.

Burungale’s cell phone included a suicide note that he had saved, in which he claimed to have killed the woman and intended to end his life. The suicide letter contained code terms like “L01-501,” which the police deciphered to solve the case. The code was the number of a tree that Burungale had disposed of the woman’s body in, and the Forest Department marked it.

“The investigation revealed that the woman and Burungale were in the Kharghar Hills area on December 12. Police took the help of voluntary rescuers and collaborated with the Fire Brigade, Cidco, and Forest Department to search the woman’s body. Drones were also used,” police said in a release.

The discovery of the woman’s body hidden behind bushes at a waste in the Kharghar region’s Owe camp area marked a significant turning point. The woman’s clothes from when she departed for college, the ID card, and the wristwatch were used to identify the body. Police stated that more investigation is being conducted.
