CM Shivraj Chouhan to attend Manipurโ€™s Sangai Festival as chief guest

Imphal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend Manipurโ€™s Sangai Festival on Sunday, said a statement from the Chief Ministerโ€™s Office (CMO).
Sangai Festival is the biggest tourism festival of Manipur. Manipur and Madhya Pradesh are partner states under the โ€˜Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharatโ€™ initiative. CM Shivraj Chouhan is the chief guest of this festival.
Traditional dances of Madhya Pradesh will be presented at the Sangai Festival. Mao tribe Naurata dance, Thai dance troupes, Maring tribe and Vaiphai tribe will perform traditional dances of Manipur by Navodit Art Institute of Madhya Pradesh.

Badhaai Dance by Sagarโ€™s Durga Namdev and Apumba Inat Sindam Shanglen by Sugnu Laibau Jagoi will be performed.
Before this, Imphal had participated in the Lokrang Mahotsav of Bhopal and now Bhopal is participating in Sangai Mahotsav of Imphal.
The theme of this festival is the โ€˜Festival of Oneness.โ€™
Sangai is the state animal of Manipur, which is found only in Manipur and this festival has been organised in grand manner this year after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under โ€˜Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharataโ€™, Government of India has been organizing such programs since October 31, 2016.
These programs will help in establishing cultural and social relations with the North-Eastern states of India from Central India.

Though Shashi Tharoor has not been a part of the Group of 23 Congress leaders, he has been voicing about bringing reforms within the party.

Veteran Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday met the party chief Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath Road residence on Monday. The meeting comes ahead of the Congress presidential election on October 17.

Shashi Tharoor, along with fellow party leaders Deepender Hooda, Jai Prakash Agarwal, and Vijendra Singh reached 10 Janpath Road to meet the Congress president.

Recently, Shashi Tharoor made the headlines, after he hinted that he was planning to run for the Congress presidential post. However, he has not openly endorsed his candidature for the post.

Though Shashi Tharoor has not been a part of the Group of 23 Congress leaders, he has been voicing about bringing reforms within the party.

The G23 is a faction within the grand old party, that had demanded change in the party leadership and several organizational changes.

The post of Congress president fell vacant after Rahul Gandhi quit in 2019 after a massive defeat in the general elections.

Earlier in the day, Shashi Tharoor endorsed a petition by some young Congress workers, calling on the new party president to implement the Udaipur Declaration in its entirety within the first 100 days of assuming office.

โ€œI welcome this petition that is being circulated by a group of young @INCIndia members, seeking constructive reforms in the Party. It has gathered over 650 signatures so far. I am happy to endorse it & to go beyond it,โ€ the Thiruvananthapuram, MP said in a tweet.

The petition calls for adherence to Gandhian ideology and organizational reforms, including the demand of 50% of the leaders to be under the age of 50 for holding electoral and party posts.
