In First Comments On Pahalgam Attack, Modi Says Will Pursue Terrorists ‘To The End Of Earth’

Last night, India announced severe diplomatic measures against Pakistan

On Thursday, in a first response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India stands firm in its resolve against terrorism and that his government will track the attackers “to the end of the Earth”. He also said that every effort will be taken to ensure justice is served.

“Today, on the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world — India will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth,” PM Narendra Modi said in a strong statement, while in Bihar

He emphasized that terrorism cannot break the spirit of India. “Terrorism will not go unpunished. We will make every effort to ensure justice is served. The entire nation stands united in this resolve,” the Prime Minister asserted in Madhubani, Bihar.

Narendra Modi also observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to those who were killed in the terrorist attack.

“Let us all stand together in this moment of grief and observe a one-minute silence. I urge everyone to observe silence for a couple of minutes to pay homage to the family members whom we lost in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22,” Modi said while on National Panchayati Raj Day, while addressing the people.

In the meantime, India on Wednesday declared a series of severe diplomatic measures against Pakistan and took the decision to stop keeping the Indus-Waters Treaty that governs the sharing of the river Indus’ waters.

This development came up after Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security in view of the deadly attack that killed 26 people — 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen.

Meanwhile, the central government has scheduled an all-party meeting for Thursday following the attack on tourists in Pahalgam on Tuesday. Reports indicate that External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will attend the meeting, set to take place in the evening. He will brief political leaders on the steps the Union government announced on Wednesday to isolate Pakistan.
