Noida’s Supertech Twin Towers Demolition , Know Why

Sakeena Sayyed
The controversial Supertech twin towers in Noida are set to be demolished this weekend through a massive amount of explosives and advanced technology.

Mumbai: On August 28, Sunday at 2:30 pm, the Supertech twin towers in Noida will be demolished using cutting-edge technology, tonnes of explosives, and scientific procedures.

According to the officials in charge of demolishing the contentious buildings, more than 3,500 kg of explosives have been mounted on the structures that will be destroyed this month.

In the process for demolishing the tower, Edifice has planned and began with the procedure well.

To ensure that there is little to no debris, Edifice Engineering is the company that is handling the demolition of the Noida tower, bore holes inside the structures and wrapped the pillars. Later, the corporation demolished the buildings’ interior and exterior structures to ensure that the process wouldn’t be hampered. 21 days were taken to place over 3,500 kgs of explosives inside the building. Due to this the structure will fall by itself and will erupt a massive cloud of smoke that can be seen for miles.

Reason for demolition:

Supreme Court on August 21 gave the decision to demolish the Supertech twin tower. A period of 7 days is given to the authorities to arrange requirements for the tower to get torn down.

The Supertech was given a plot of land by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA), which approved the construction of 16 towers in total as well as a shopping centre, under a number of conditions. After the building was finished, the Supreme Court found that some of the conditions hadn’t been fulfilled and the towers had been built in violation of the law.

The Emerald Court Group Housing Society’s Residents’ Welfare Association previously filed a petition alleging that the building violated the 2010 UP Apartments Act. They also allegedly breached the minimum distance required.

Thus, the towers are being demolished because they have been “illegally constructed”.

While individuals in the local area have been evacuated, the area around the Noida twin buildings is being secured to prevent any damage from the rubble and smoke cloud.
