Jawan Killed, 6 Injured As Terrorists Strike In J&K

According to police officials, an encounter is ongoing between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmirโ€™s Doda after they attacked an army base late last night. Five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) were injured in the shootout.

This marks the third such incident in three days in Jammu after terrorists opened fire in Kathua, injuring a civilian, and at a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, killing nine passengers. A jawan belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed in action, while a terrorist was also eliminated during an encounter in Kathua last night.

Following the massive swearing-in ceremony in Delhi that saw Narendra Modi return as Prime Minister for a record third term, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are all set to welcome their new chief ministers on Wednesday. While Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu will take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the morning, the evening will see tribal leader Mohan Charan Majhi sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha.

Both ceremonies will draw a crowd of prominent BJP figures, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Other leaders, including Naidu, are expected to swear in which includes Pawan Kalyan, an actor turned politician and Janasena head, to be the Deputy CM.
