โ€œPollution Entire North Indiaโ€™s Problem, Take Responsibility For Stubble Burning In Punjabโ€: Arvind Kejriwal

Pollution

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday remarked that pollution is not Delhiโ€™s but North Indiaโ€™s problem, urging the Centre to take specific steps to relieve the region from the problem.

Kejriwal also said that the Delhi government is mulling whether the odd-even scheme for vehicles should be implemented. He went on to announce that the primary schools in Delhi will be shut from Saturday onwards till the pollution situation in the National capital improves. The Delhi CMโ€™s remarks come after the national capital reported the air quality in the โ€˜severeโ€™ category for the second consecutive day.

Addressing a joint press conference with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal took responsibility for the stubble burning in Punjab and said that it is not the time to blame game and doing politics over the sensitive issue.

โ€œPollution is not just Delhiโ€™s but entire Northern Indiaโ€™s problem. The Centre has to come forward and take specific steps so that the entire North India can be relieved from pollution. Air pollution is a North India problem. AAP, the Delhi government or the Punjab government are not solely responsible. Now is not the time for the blame game. There should not be politics over such a sensitive issue. I admit there is stubble burning in Punjab,โ€ Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal hoped that lot lesser incidents of stubble burning would be reported in Punjab by next year and said that steps are being taken for it.

โ€œFarmers are not responsible for it. They want a solution. The day they find the solution, they will stop burning stubble. If there is stubble burning in Punjab, our government is responsible for it. We take responsibility for it. We have been in the government for only six months which is a very less period. The Punjab government has taken steps. I hope the stubble-burning incidents will be much lesser by next year,โ€ he said.

โ€œWeโ€™re also mulling whether the odd-even scheme for vehicles should be implemented,โ€ Kejriwal added.

โ€œWeโ€™re taking all steps to control the pollution situation. In lieu of that, weโ€™re shutting down all primary schools in Delhi from tomorrowโ€ฆ Also shutting down outdoor activities for all classes above class 5,โ€ the Delhi CM said.

Visakhapatnam Chief Metropolitan Court on Thursday dismissed to remand senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former minister Ayyanna Patrudu on allegations of alleged encroachment and forgery.

Visakhapatnam:  Visakhapatnam Chief Metropolitan Court on Thursday dismissed to remand senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former minister Ayyanna Patrudu on allegations of alleged encroachment and forgery.

The court instructed the police to serve notice under 41 A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The court said that Section 467 is not applicable to Ayyanna Patruduโ€™s arrest case. The court said further action can only be taken after giving 41A notices.

Earlier on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) police arrested former minister Ayyanna Patrudu from his residence in Narsipatanam in the Anakapalli district. Later he was taken to the CID office in Visakhapatnam.

It is reported that the CID had registered a case on the complaint of the irrigation officials that they had submitted a fake certificate to the High Court during the demolition of the house wall. It was alleged that the duo had occupied the Ravanapalli irrigation canal and constructed the house.

In the evening on Thursday, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) Police produced him at Visakhapatnam Chief Metropolitan Court. Former minister Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Rajesh were released by the District Court after they were served 41A notices.

โ€œAfter enquiry, FIR was registered under Section of conspiracy and forgery among others. As the person is highly influential and can threaten or influence witnesses we arrested him following the due process laid by the SC,โ€ said CID DIG on TDP leader Ayyanna Patruduโ€™s arrest.

CID DIG said a complaint was received on October 30 from the executive engineer of the water resources department alleging that Ayyanna Patrudu and his two sons encroached 0.02 acres of department land for the construction of their house and NOC used for it was forged.

Ayyannaโ€™s wife Padmavati had criticized the government for arresting Ayyanna Patrudu and Rajesh without prior information. She demanded from the government to take full responsibility for Ayyanna Patruduโ€™s life.

The Telugu Desam Party activists have called Narsipatnam bandh in protest against Ayyannaโ€™s arrest.
The arrested TDP leader and his son will be produced before a court in Eluru later.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, took to Twitter and shared the video of Ayyannaโ€™s arrest and condemned the arrest calling it an attempt to โ€œsuppressโ€ the voice of the backward class leaders.

โ€œThe arrest of former minister and BC leader Aiyanna Patrudi in Narsipatnam after jumping over walls and breaking doors has caused consternation,โ€ Naidu tweeted in Telugu, roughly translated into English.

He alleged that the Reddy government has been chasing Ayannaโ€™s family since it came to power.
โ€œThe government has been chasing Ayannaโ€™s family since coming to powerโ€ฆ more than 10 cases have already been filed. In the case of Chintakayala Vijay, the police did not change even though the CIDโ€™s procedures were wrong,โ€ he tweeted.

โ€œHave there ever been situations in the state where the police raided houses like thieves and made arrests? Ayannaโ€™s arrest is to suppress the voice of BC leaders who are questioning about the exploitation of Uttarandhra by YCP,โ€ Naidu added.
