Supreme Court Refuses To Stay New ECs’ Appointment

On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected a stay on the appointment of two new Election Commissioners. The decision followed a 2023 law that excluded the Chief Justice of India from the selection panel. A three-judge bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna emphasized that the court typically refrains from issuing interim orders on legislation. The case is scheduled for further hearing on March 21.
