T Raja Singh Says CM Eknath Shinde Should Follow UP Model & Bulldoze Encroachments

Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party MLA T Raja Singh on Sunday said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should imitate his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi  Adityanath and bulldoze encroachments on government lands.

β€œThe encroachments on government lands should be identified and they should be removed by procuring 100 bulldozers,” Singh said. He addressed a rally organized by Sakal Hindu Samaj, a collective of several Hindutva outfits, in Maharashtra Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, formerly Aurangabad.

BJP-ruled state governments have been increasingly dispensing β€œbulldozer justice” by conducting demolition drives under the guise of removing encroachments. In several cases, the drive is conducted on the property of a person accused of an offense, mostly Muslims. But there is no legal provision to destroy the property of an accused person.

Sunday’s rally was organized as a show of support for the renaming of Aurangabad. The organizers also demanded action against the so-called β€œlove jihad”.

On the opposition to the renaming of the city, Singh said: β€œSecular people say Muslims were members of Shivaji Maharaj’s force. If that is so why do they oppose the renaming?”

He also asked Hindus to take action if they find cases of β€œlove jihad”.

Kerala Gets Its First Transgender Lawyer Padma Lakshmi

Shashank

Kerala got its first transgender lawyer when Padma Lakshmi enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of the state, reported NDTV.

The state’s industries minister P Rajeev shared a photograph of the lawyer on his official Instagram, congratulating her. As per the minister’s post, Padma Lakshmi was one of the more than 1,500 law graduates who were handed over the Bar enrolment certificate and an event organized by the Bar Council of India on Sunday. Padma Lakshmi graduated from Ernakulam Government Law College.

In his Instagram post, Mr Rajeev praised the efforts of the young lawyer for making a path for herself considering she had to face a society that is not the kindest of the most encouraging.

β€œCongratulations to Padma Lakshmi who overcame all the hurdles of life and enrolled as the first transgender advocate in Kerala. Becoming the first is always the hardest achievement in history. There are no predecessors on the way to the goal. Obstacles will be inevitable. There will be people to mute and discourage. Padma Lakshmi has written her name in the legal history by overcoming all this,” Mr. Rajeev wrote in the post translated from Malayalam to English. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqABP2Ur88E/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet

β€œMay Padma Lakshmi’s life inspire more people from the transgender sector to enter advocacy,” he added.

Users were elated by the heart-warming post and many of them posted red heart emojis.

β€œCongrats and welcome to the Advocate community,” one user commented on the minister’s post.

Padma Lakshmi’s achievement is being praised on social media after Joyita Mondal, who became India’s first transgender judge. She was appointed a judge in the Lok Adalat of Islampur in West Bengal in 2017.

In early 2018, transgender activist Vidya Kamble was appointed a member judge in a Lok Adalat in Nagpur in Maharashtra. Later that year, the country got the third transgender judge, Swati Bidhan Baruah, who hails from Guwahati.
