Centre blamed over death of nineteen-year-old youth in yesterday’s clash at Secunderabad
Hyderabad: As the nation continues to clash in several regions over the freshly declared Agnipath recruitment policy, sources from Telangana’s Secunderabad reported the death of a nineteen-year-old youth in a railway police firing.
The youth who has been identified as ‘Rakesh’ was among several across the nation that expressed violent dissatisfaction against the newly unveiled army recruitment scheme yesterday at Hyderabad’s Secunderabad.
Reactionary protests and marches have spurted all over the nation this week in response to the scheme that aims at shortening the tenures of newly selected army recruits.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao expressed shock over the incident.
Chief Minister Rao has presently declared a financial aid of Rs. 25 lakhs to the boy’s family. He added that one member from the family will also be awarded a government job.
The Railway Police Firing that reacted to the violent demonstrations that took place in Secunderabad reportedly left more than a dozen injured.
Chief Minister Rao reacting to the incident commented earlier yesterday that the central government was responsible for such events. He added that the centre’s “wrong policies” was to be blamed for the youngster’s death.
He further commented that the state government will protect the children of Telangana.
This week saw the violent protests across the nation demanding lenience in the policy’s age bar and a word to ensure guarantee for government jobs to the ‘Agniveers’.
As the new recruitment policy only ensures permanent tenure to about 25% of the selected Agniveers, protests emerged demanding a government job after the defence tenure.
Telangana was among several states that saw violent demonstrations this week after the centre announced the Agnipath scheme for recruitment to the defence sector of the nation.
