#Article370Abolished: RSS welcomes govt decision, calls it “Brave”

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Suresh Joshi said that everyone should rise above their interests and political differences to support the initiative by the government.

 

New Delhi| As the Modi govt abolished Article 370 today in a historic move, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh welcomed the decision. BJP’s ideological parent RSS also termed the move as ‘Brave’. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that abolishing Article 370 was necessary for the interest of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir.

After the news of govt revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir came out, RSS tweeted a joint statement by its chief Bhagwat and his deputy, Suresh Joshi. They said that everyone should rise above their interests and political differences. He also asked people to support the initiative by the government.


“We heartily welcome the government’s brave decision. This was very necessary for the interest of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir,” they said.

Security Forces on High Alert:

Hours after revoking ‘Article 370’ from Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the security forces in the region and across the country to be on ‘High Alert’.

According to the officials, the MHA has also directed all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and central security agencies to issue specific advisories and take necessary precautions. It has also asked them to step up protection of their campuses and movements.

More troops to Kashmir:

More 8000 troops have been airlifted to Kashmir valley in the state of Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370 was scrapped by the government today. C-17 transport planes of the Indian Air Force are bringing the troops to Srinagar, sources said. They are in addition to the 35,000 troops that were brought into the state over the past week. According to multiple media reports, the paramilitary forces will be brought mostly from the states of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Assam.

Abolishing Article 370:

The central government today revoked Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. This means there won’t be any special status granted to it. President Ram Nath Kovind has invoked his powers granted under Article 370 (3) to declare it inoperative. The government also proposed to make Jammu and Kashmir separate Union Territory with a legislature while Ladakh will also be a separate Union Territory without legislature.
