“BJP wanted to weaken the allies”: Chandrababu Naidu

Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the BJP wanted to weaken the TDP to get the control over the state.

Prime Minister Modi’s announcement of holding a hunger strike hasn’t gone down well with the Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu. The Andhra Pradesh CM who decided to pull out of the Narendra Modi government last month accused the Prime Minister of playing diversionary tactics.

Naidu was talking to the media at the dinner hosted for delegates attending the three-day Happy Cities Summit. Terming the day-long hunger strike ‘ridiculous’, Chandrababu Naidu said that it is an attempt to run away from the issues raised by the opposition.

Launching a scathing attack on the ruling party Naidu asked, “Who is responsible for the impasse in the parliament?” He further alleged that the NDA government backed the AIADMK MPs who were creating a ruckus over Cauvery issue. Naidu asked, “Was it not the NDA government which was behind the AIADMK MPs, who stalled the proceeding of Lok Sabha, to avoid facing the no-confidence motion proposed by the Opposition?”

Talking about Cauvery issue, he said if the centre really intended to, it would have formed the Cauvery Management Board. “Who stopped Modi from doing it?” he asked.

The Prime Minister will observe a day-long fast on April 12 to protest the parliament logjam during the budget session. Chandrababu Naidu, however, believed that the opposition is not to be blamed for the logjam. Praising the TDP MPs who resigned from the Modi government, he said that they exposed the Modi government.

The party had left the NDA government over Andhra Pradesh Special category status demand. Naidu further said that the state government will continue the construction of the capital city despite lack of funds from the Centre. He said the farmers have already surrendered their land for the construction of the capital city. “The farmers had voluntarily surrendered 34,000 acres of their land worth over Rs 55,000 crore for building the capital. But the Centre had given just Rs 1,500 crore,” he said.

When asked why the Centre did not help the Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the BJP wanted to weaken the TDP to get the control over the state. He said the BJP wanted the TDP to surrender before it. However, he asserted that the TDP government is capable and very strong.
