Congress-JDS government has nothing to do with investigation on Janardhan Reddy: D Shivkumar

Bengaluru | Congress leader and Karnataka Minister D Shivkumar on Thursday said that the Congress-JDS government won’t interfere in the police investigation of absconding Janardhan Reddy in the bribery case as he is a BJP leader.

Speaking to media, Shivkumar said, “A police investigation is going on since a long time, the government has nothing to do with this type of investigation. We don’t want to interfere as he is a BJP leader. Law will take its own course.”

Earlier former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa rejected the claim that the Congress-JDS government is attacking Reddy after the victory in Bellary. He said, “I don’t agree, whoever has done wrong should be prosecuted. Everything should be done according to law and order.”

The Bengaluru Police is currently looking for BJP leader Janardhan Reddy in connection with a bribery case. Reddy who was a minister in the Yeddyurappa government is also been accused of demanding Rs 18 crore to bail ‘Ambident Group’ out of a case. The ‘Ambident Group’ is been accused of duping hundreds of investors and is facing an Rs 600-crore fraud case. The money was allegedly converted to gold and handed over to Reddy’s close aide. The Karnataka Police earlier on Wednesday said that the BJP leader is absconding.
