Congress-NCP alliance: Congress to contest 24, NCP 20 seats in Maharashtra

Congress remains the Big brother in the Congress-NCP alliance and will contest on 24 seats while NCP headed by Sharad Pawar will contest on 20 seats.

 

Mumbai| Ending the months of speculation, the Congress-NCP declared their seat-sharing formula in Maharashtra for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Both allies in a joint press conference today announced that they will contest all 48 seats. Congress remains the Big brother in the alliance and will contest on 24 seats while NCP headed by Sharad Pawar will contest on 20 seats.

The smaller parties like Swabhimani Paksha of Raju Shetty will contest on two seats, 1 seat has been given to Bahujan Vikas Aghadi while one seat has been given to Yuva Swabhiman Paksha.

The Opposition alliance has 28 small parties. The parties that were not given Lok Sabha seats (The Republican Factions) will be accommodated in the Assembly election, the parties announced.

Meanwhile, Shivsena and BJP alliance had already declared that BJP will contest 25 seats while Shivsena will contest 23 seats in Maharashtra.
