Court asks police to file report on plea for FIR against Rahul Gandhi for remarks against PM Modi

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday directed the police to file an action taken report on a plea seeking registration of FIR against Congress President Rahul for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal listed the matter for further hearing on May 15.

The complaint, filed by advocate Joginder Tuli, has sought direction to the police to register an FIR against Gandhi for making allegedly derogatory remarks in 2016 against PM Modi, accusing him of hiding behind the blood of soldiers and cashing in on their sacrifice.

In Contractor Suicide Case, Karnataka Minister Eshwarappa & Aides Booked

Bangalore: In the suicide case of contractor Santosh Patil, Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa and his aides Basavaraj and Ramesh have been booked. An FIR has been filed against the minister in connection with the case.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on the incident said, “An FIR is registered against Eshwarappa. I’m taking all the information. Will talk to Eshwarappa on the phone and I’ll summon him and talk as well. Now that FIR is registered, I’ll speak to him.”

The high command on the FIR has been briefed by the CM. According to the latest information, several ministers are demanding the resignation of Eshwaraapa. The CM has said that the party will take a call. 

Eshwarappa and his aides are booked for abetment of suicide. In Udipi, the case was registered on the complaint of Patil’s brother Prashanth.

Contractor Santosh Patil had accused Eshwarappa of corruption. On Tuesday, Santosh was found dead in a lodge in Udipi. Santosh’s brother has blamed the minister for his demise.

Prashant Patil said, “Eshwarappa is responsible for my brother’s death. He sought a bribe or commission [from contractor Santhosh Patil]. He then filed a defamation case. Patil had received threats too.”

Before committing suicide, Santosh Patil had sent a WhatsApp message to his friends stating his intention to take his life and blaming Eshwarappa for the extreme step.

According to police, Santosh told his wife he was going on a picnic with his friends. He left Belgaum on April 11. Following this, he went missing.

On Tuesday, his body was found in Udupi. His two friends were in the same building but in another room.
