New Delhi | The Supreme Court, assessing the Unnao rape victim’s health has ordered that she will not be airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for now.

Her family told the Supreme Court today that they want her treatment to continue at the hospital in Lucknow where she is being treated for serious injuries.

The rape victim had met with an accident earlier in the week which killed two of her aunts and has critically injured her lawyer and herself.

“So far as the movement of the victim is concerned since the family wants treatment at Lucknow, we will wait… immediate concern is the health of the victim,” the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said today.

The survivor is still on the ventilator undergoing treatment.

BJP expelled Unnao rape victim’s main accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar

The BJP on Thursday had expelled its MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar who is accused of raping a teen in Unnao.

The decision comes days after the rape victim suffered a tragic accident on Sunday which killed two of her relatives and has left her and her lawyer critically injured.

Kuldeep Sengar has also been booked by the CBI for alleged involvement in the victim’s accident

Family members have accused MLA Sengar of causing the accident and have claimed that he and his followers have repeatedly threatened them to take back the case.

UAPA Bill, 2019 passed in Rajya Sabha

TestHostEntry

New Delhi | The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill, 2019 has been passed by the Rajya Sabha on Friday, tabled by Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Bill is an anti-terror legislation that seeks to designate an individual as a “terrorist”. It was earlier passed by the Lok Sabha on July 24.

Rajya Sabha rejects opposition-sponsored motion to send amendment to terror law to select committee with 104 votes against it as compared to 85 in favour.

“When we were in opposition, we supported previous UAPA amendments, be it in 2004,’08 or ’13 as we believe all should support tough measures against terror. We also believe that terror has no religion, it is against humanity, not against a particular Govt or individual,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha.

“We are not opposing all the provisions of the bill. Only opposing Clause 5 and 6. When you want to name an individual, at what stage are you going to name the person,” opposed senior Congress leader P Chidambaram.

Amit Shah responded to this and said, “When one organisation is banned, the same people come with a new one. How long will we keep banning organisations.”
