Shivsena chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “The 50-50 formula was decided. Discussions should be held and then it should be decided that who would be the CM.”
Mumbai| The election result trends have given a massive boost to Shivsena but have turned the tables on the BJP. As per the latest figures, BJP is leading on 102 seats while Shivsena is leading on 57 seats. The sliding number of the BJP has bolstered the Shivsena’s ambition to get the CM post.
Shivsena which compromised with the seat-sharing formula with a pinch of salt has changed the tunes. Uddhav Thackeray in his press conference today revived the demand for no compromise and 50-50 formula for the CM post. Addressing the media, the Shivsena Chief said that the “50-50 formula agreed before assembly polls must be followed.”

It is noteworthy that before Lok Sabha elections, BJP had promised to distribute 50-50 seats among the BJP and Sena. However, after the Lok Sabha election, the formula was changed and Shivsena was given fewer seats. This had upset the Sena but it still remained in the alliance with the BJP.
However, these numbers have bolstered Shivsena’s confidence. When asked who will become Maharashtra’s chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray said: “Who will be the CM? It’s a good question. The 50-50 formula was decided. Discussions should be held and then it should be decided that who would be the Chief Minister (of Maharashtra)”. Interestingly, BJP President Amit Shah and even PM Modi during their campaign have endorsed Fadnavis for the next CM stint.
