Governor recommends ‘President’s Rule’ Maharashtra, ShivSena demands urgent hearing in SC

With today’s deadline, Maharashtra Governor had recommended imposing President’s Rule in the state if the status remains inconclusive

Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Governor Bhagat Singh Khoshyari can recommend presidential rule in the state before 8.30 pm and this time was allotted to NCP for the government formation. The Governor is ready to go for legal actions also. As there is no other option left no political party is ready.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an urgent Cabinet meeting just before his departure today for BRICS summit in Brazil. The agenda of the meeting is not known but the political crises in Maharashtra suggest that the government formation in the state may come up in discussions.

If the Maharashtra Governor imposes President Rule in the state, Shiv Sena is likely to approach the Supreme Court against the move. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has talked to Kapil Sibal and Ahmed Patel over the issue.

The close sources say that Raj Bhavan has still not confirmed Presidential rule in Maharashtra. It is just suggested as there are very few options left behind for the formation of the government.

While the Maharashtra governor’s office consulted with the Centre about the way forward in case NCP fails to show support required to form the government.
