Karnataka Bypolls: Dinesh Gundu Rao Congress leader resigns from the party’s post of Karnataka State President

In the December 5 Karnataka by-elections, BJP, Congress and JDS fought separately. 165 candidates were in the fray for 15 seats in the by-election.

 

Bengaluru| The counting of the by-elections in 15 Karnataka assembly seats is underway. In the early trends, the BJP is ahead on 10 seats. The Congress and the JDS have maintained early trends on 2 seats each. These results are highly regarded for the BJP government, as Yeddyurappa must win 6 seats to save power.

After disqualifying 17 MLAs in 224 Assembly seats in Karnataka, the number of the assembly came down to 207. For this, 104 seats were needed for the majority. After that, the BJP (105) formed a government with the support of an independent. But, after the by-election, there will be 222 seats in the assembly. In that case, the majority would be 111. The BJP needs at least 6 seats to remain in power.

After the defeat in Maharashtra, Karnataka by-election is a question of a reputation for the BJP. At the same time, there is a chance for Congress to regain lost seats and become a kingmaker for the JDS. The Congress and the JDS fought separately in the assembly elections. After that, JDS leader Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister in the coalition government. In the Karnataka by-elections, BJP, Congress, and JDS fought separately. On December 5, 165 candidates were in the fray for 15 seats in the by-election.
