While both the ruling government and the opposition has been going back and forth on the Rafale jet deal, Rahul Gandhi posted yet another blasting tweet sending a reminder to Arun Jaitley, the finance minister with 6 hours remaining in his deadline of 24 hours to set up a panel of all-party lawmakers.
Rahul Gandhi had announced the 24-hour challenge in retort to 15 questions raised by Arun Jaitley for the Congress party in a post on Facebook making an accusation of Rahul Gandhi of âpeddling untruthâ on the Rafale fighter jet deal.
Dear Mr Jaitley,
Less than 6 hrs left for your deadline on the #Rafale JPC to run out.
Young India is waiting. I hope you're busy convincing Modi Ji and Anil Ambani Ji about why they should listen to you & approve this! @ArunJaitley

It was last evening when the Congress president had dared Jaitley to call a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into what he termed the “great Rafale robberyâ. He stated he would wait for a response for 24 hours.
As a matter of fact, Rahul Gandhi blazing guns at PM Modi and Anil Ambani, without naming the chairman of the Reliance Group. He made an allegation of PM Modi of âprotecting his friendâ.
Mr Jaitley, thanks for bringing the nationâs attention back to the GREAT #RAFALE ROBBERY! How about a Joint Parliamentary Committee to sort it out? Problem is, your Supreme Leader is protecting his friend, so this may be inconvenient. Do check & revert in 24 hrs. Weâre waiting!

Sometime later, Amit Shah, BJP president, jumped into the sparring wagon and termed the JPC as âJhoothi Party Congressâ and accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing âliesâ so as to befool the country. He tweeted, âBut the nation’s IQ is higher than yours!”
The political row has sparked over the deal of 36 Rafale jets from Dassault Aviation of France. The Congress party had alleged wrongdoings that varied from picking a private firm and cost overruns to not exhibiting transparency in rolling out the elaborate details of the deal.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the price of the jets is quite high in comparison to what was negotiated by the previous Congress-led government for a total of 126 aircrafts. He also accused that the deal was sealed at an increased price bringing the taxman to a loss and doing a favour to âa businessmanâ.
Anil Ambani, on the other hand, brushed aside Rahulâs accusations and explained the government had no role in the French firm of Dassault that manufactures Rafale, selecting his company to be a local partner.
Jaitley, further alleged, “Rahul Gandhi’s misadventure” was seriously compromising national security. “This (allegations on Rafale deal) is like a kindergarten or primary school debate ‘Well, I was paying 500 something and you’ve paid 1,600 something’. That’s the argument being given; it shows how little understanding Rahul Gandhi hasâ. He further said, âEvery single word in the Congress’s allegation is factually falseâ.
