Madrasas don’t breed nature like Nathuram Godse, Pragya Thakur: Azam Khan

Azam Khan

Lucknow | Samajwadi Party leader and Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan today sparked a controversy when he said that Madrasas don’t breed people like Mahatma Gandhi assassin Nathuram Godse and Malegaon Blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur.

Speaking to news agency ANI over PM Modi’s plan to connect Madrasas with mainstrem education the Ramgarh MP Azam Khan said, “Madrasas don’t breed a nature like that of Nathuram Godse or a personality like Pragya Thakur. First, announce that those propagating thoughts of Nathuram Godse will be declared enemies of democracy, those convicted for terror activities won’t be rewarded.”

Khan further said that if the government want to help the madrasas, it should improve its standard. “Religious teachings are imparted at madrasas. At the very same madrasas, English, Hindi & Maths are taught. This has always been done. If you want to help, improve their standard. Build buildings for madrasas, provide them furniture & midday meal facility,” he added.

Earlier the Samajwadi Party leader was banned from election campaign by the Election Commission for a certain period of time for his sexist remark on BJP leader Jaya Prada who was contesting against him from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.
