Mumbai| The Maharashtra Assembly witnessed a ruckus after BJP questioned the govt’s intention behind protem speaker appointed by the Governor. BJP said the oath-taking ceremony did not happen as per rules.

The BJP has said that it will approach the court against the decision of MahaVikasAghadi govt to change the pro tem speaker of the assembly. The alliance which claims a majority in the 288 member house, announced that Dilip Walse Patil will be the protem speaker. The Governor had appointed BJP’s Kalidas Kolambkar as the Protem Speaker.

BJP’s Maharashtra unit chief Chandrakant Patil today said that the party would approach Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari over Maha Vikas Agadi’s move to change protem speaker. Terming it ‘legally wrong’, Patil said that the new government is violating rules. “We are filing a petition with the governor, and might also approach the apex court,” he added.
