“Don’t care whose Son he is, should be thrown out”: PM Modi upset over Akash Vijayvargiya row

Without naming Akash Vijayvargiya, PM Modi said, “Be it, son of an MP or a Minister, such actions are unacceptable.”

 

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reacted for the first time on the matter of Aakash Vijayvargiya beating government official. In a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party, PM Modi expressed anguish over the actions of Akash Vijayvargiya, saying that such incidents will not be tolerated. Akash Vijayvargiya-son of BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya is currently serving as Indore MLA.

Without naming Vijayvargiya, PM Modi said, “Be it, son of an MP or a Minister, such actions are unacceptable.” Reportedly, PM Modi was informed of the incident on the very day it happened. Now, after seven days PM Modi broke the silence on the matter and gave an earful to the BJP leaders.

He said, “There is no place in the party for the ego, misbehavior, and arrogance.” PM Modi said that such incidents will not be tolerated and should be stopped immediately.

Almost a week ago, Akash Vijayvargiya was caught on camera thrashing a municipal officer with a bat. He was opposing the anti-encroachment drive conducted by the Municipal Cooperation. According to locals, the Municipal staff had arrived at destroy an old and dangerous house in the Amala Ganj compound of the city. The locals started protesting after the arrival of the Municipal staff and even called Vijayvargia who is an MLA from this constituency.

Vijayvargia warned the staff that if they don’t move from this in 10 minutes they will be responsible for any mishap that could occur afterward. The Municipal staff tried to convince the MLA, however, he lost his cool and started beating an officer with a cricket bat as seen in the video.

He was later arrested by the police and was promptly granted bail by a special court. However, out on bail, Akash Vijayvargiya said that he doesn’t regret thrashing the officer.

BJP Lok Sabha MP and spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy speaking to News Agency ANI said, “PM in BJP parliamentary party meeting today said any kind of misbehavior that brings down party’s name is unacceptable. He said that action should be taken if someone has done something wrong. He also said that it is applicable to everyone.”
