Questioned about Prime Minister Modi hailing the Constitution, Singh said, “Well I think the proof of the pudding is in the eating
New Delhi: On Tuesday opposition parties held a protest before the Ambedkar Statue in Parliament as they boycotted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Constitution Day speech.
Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi led the protest. Former party president Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were also present.
Manmohan Singh took a dig at Narendra Modi on Tuesday for his remarks hailing the Constitution, saying “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” and the way the central government has behaved in Maharashtra it is not certain that constitutional norms are safe.
Questioned about Prime Minister Modi hailing the Constitution, Singh said, “Well I think the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The way the BJP government has behaved in Maharashtra, it is certainly not safe for constitutional norms in the hands of the present establishment.”
