New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted bail to Swami Chinmayanand, who has been accused of sexual exploitation by a law student
Chinmayanand’s trust runs Shahjahanpur Law College where the student studied, was arrested under Section 376C of the IPC an offense pertaining to abuse of one’s position by a person in authority to “induce or seduce” a woman under his charge to have “sexual intercourse not amounting to the offense of rape”.
Former BJP leader also faces charges of stalking under Section 354D, wrongful confinement under Section 342 and criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC. The law student, who was arrested for allegedly tried to obtain forcefully Rs 5 crore from Chinmayanand, was released on bail on December 11, 2019.
Chinmayanand had alleged that they had threatened to make public some videos that showed him getting a massage from the student and who was arrested on September 25.
Chinmayanand, who has been accused of sexual exploitation by a law student, was granted bail.
The 23-year-old law student in August complainant went missing soon after posting a video detailing her ordeal. Though she did not name any person her father named Chinmayanand in a missing-person complaint.
After his arrest, the BJP had said in September that Chinmayanand was no longer with the party.
