Until SC judgement, parliament has no right to make law on Ram Temple: Swami Prasad Maurya

New Delhi | Uttar Pradesh Minister and BJP leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Monday said that the Ram Temple matter should not be a topic of debate as the matter is in the Supreme Court.

Speaking to media, Maurya said,” The Ram Temple is in Supreme Court. It shouldn’t be made a topic of debate.” Taking a dig at Shiv Sena Maurya said,” It seems that those who debate on it consider themselves above Supreme Court.” Contradictory to the demand of an ordinance on Ram Temple in Parliament, the BJP leader said, “Everyone should wait for top cour’s judgement. Until then, Parliament has no right to formulate a law.”

Earlier last week amid speculation of an ordinance in Parliament over the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Kahire gave an adjournment notice in Lok Sabha on the Ram Mandir issue.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on 29 October adjourned the hearing of the decade-old Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute till January 2019. The top court bench including Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SK Kaul and Justice M Joseph has postponed the matter till January 2019 to fix the date of hearing in the Ayodhya title suit. The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, “It will come up in the first week of January not for hearing but for deciding the date of the hearing. The hearing may be in January, February, March, whenever….also the bench by which it shall be heard will be constituted.
