“Shiv Sena-BJP Like Kiran Rao-Amir Khan”: Sanjay Raut On Devendra Fadnavis’ Statement

Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “We are not like India-Pakistan. Look at Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, we are like them.”

The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has begun from today. Ahead of this special session of two days, a statement by Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis has led to fresh speculations in the politics of the state. Talking to reporters at Vasant Smriti Bhawan in Dadar on Sunday, Fadnavis said that Shiv Sena is not BJP’s enemy but there are ideological differences.

Fadnavis also said that not everything is permanent in politics. However, he has denied initiating any discussion with Shiv Sena. Interestingly, while the state BJP unit has hardened its stand against the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, Fadnavis’ stand on Shiv Sena has softened.

“Shiv Sena, BJP Are Like Amir Khan and Kiran Rao”

Reacting to the statement of the former Maharahstra CM on Monday, Shiv Sena MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “We are not like India-Pakistan. Look at Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, we are like them. Our (Shiv Sena-BJP) political paths are different but our friendship still stands.”

“We Are Not Enemies”: Fadnavis

On the possibility of BJP and Shiv Sena coming together, Fadnavis said, “We (Shiv Sena and BJP) have never been enemies. They were our friends and the people they fought against, formed the government with them and left us. There are no ifs and buts in politics. Decisions are taken according to the circumstances.”

Fadnavis further said that Shiv Sena fought the 2019 assembly elections with us, but after winning the elections, they joined hands with the same people (NCP and Congress) against whom we contested. Fadnavis said that central investigative agencies are investigating many cases in Maharashtra on the orders of the court.

Speculations rife since the meeting of Uddhav and PM

Last month, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. After the conversation between the two in private for half an hour, the speculations about BJP-Shiv Sena coming together have started doing rounds. However, Uddhav Thackeray had told the media that they had private talks on the issue of Maratha reservation.

This week NCP chief Sharad Pawar also met Uddhav Thackeray. During this, Cabinet Minister Jitendra Awhad, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil and Aaditya Thackeray were also present there. Even after this, there were reports of rift in the alliance.

“The more rumors spread, the stronger the alliance will be”: Raut

Dismissing reports of closeness with BJP, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, “The more rumors spread, the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance will get stronger.” “We do have some political and ideological differences, but we do meet when we come across each other in a public function,” he added.
