“Sonia Gandhi wanted clarity on certain points”: Congress-NCP over govt formation in Maharashtra

When asked if the Congress is delaying a decision over government formation, he said that Sonia Gandhi wanted clarity on certain points.

 

Mumbai| In a first after the imposition of President’s Rule in Maharashtra, Congress and NCP addressed a joint press conference at YB Chavan centre. The press meet was attended by big leaders of the Congress and NCP including, Ahmed Patel, KC Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Prafull Patel etc.

Talking to reporters NCP leader Praful Patel said that the alliance partners, Congress and NCP senior leaders met and discussed the govt formation in Maharashtra. He further said that the parties decided that before taking any decision on an important issue such as this, the parties had to conduct elaborate deliberation. “ShivSena approached us officially on November 11. The future course of action will be decided soon,” said Patel reading out the joint statement.

Congress leaders Ahmed Patel speaking of the President’s Rule in Maharashtra said that it wasn’t necessary. “President’s Rule in the state is a mockery of constitution and democracy. Governor never called congress to form a government,” Patel said.

When asked if the Congress is delaying a decision over government formation, he said that ShivSena called Congress President Sonia Gandhi only on November 11. “Sonia Gandhi wanted clarity on certain points,” he clarified.
