New Delhi | Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan ignited rumours on the next step of the much-loved minister Sushma Swaraj, by congratulating her on the position of Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr Harsh Vardhan congratulated former minister Sushma Swaraj for being chosen as the new Governor in the Jaganmohan Reddy-led government.
However, the buzz reached a peak when he later deleted the tweet.
“Congratulations to senior BJP leader, my sister and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj ji on being appointed as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Your long experience in different fields will be beneficial to the people of the state,” Vardhan’s deleted tweet read.
An hour later, Sushma Swaraj offered clarification and refuted rumours.
“The news of my appointment as Governor of Andhra Pradesh is not true”.
“I called on the Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu ji on the demitting office as Minister of External affairs. This was enough for Twitter to appoint me as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh,” she added.
A Home Ministry spokesperson also denied the reports about Swaraj being appointed as the Governor.
Sushma Swaraj was the Minister of External Affairs in the Modi 1.0 government. She did not contest the elections citing ill health.
