With the election commission announcing February 14 as the date of polling in Punjab which will happen in only one phase, the race for the top seat has intensified in the state. The state has 117 assembly seats. But the stakeholders this time are not just Cong or SAD. Post the farmers movement equations in the state have changed. Amarinder Singh has left the Congress and is going to form its own party, which will align with BJP in the polls. On the other hands, SAD and BJP have broke off their alliance. AAP is also seeking to increase its tally whereas, new parties floated by Farmers’ leaders are also trying to hold roots.
