For almost three-years now, the Bhima-koregaon case and subsequently, the arrest various activists and academicians have created uproar in India’s intellectual circle. Pune police which was investigating the case until recently, had said that there was a huge conspiracy behind the violence. A conspiracy that involved a plot to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Over a dozen activists related to Kabir Kala Manch associated with Elgaar Parishad programme on 31 of December 2017 have been behind bars since last two years. Some face charges as stringent as UAPA, many have been denied bail.
The case however has now taken a new turn. The Police had earlier claimed that they unearthed incriminating documents from the laptop of one of the activist- Rona Wilson which indicated that there was a Maoist plot to assassinate PM Modi In Rajiv Gandhi Style. Now, A report from a Massachusetts-based digital forensics firm, Arsenal Consulting, says that this key evidence was planted using malware on a laptop seized by police. The forensic firm has said that An attacker used malware to infiltrate a laptop belonging to activist Rona Wilson before his arrest and deposited at least 10 incriminating letters on his computer.
While we are discussing the case in detail, we thought, we should also try and understand both the sides in this-the aside of the police and the side of the activist. We have spoken to Former Top Cop Mr Julio Ribeiro and To Mr Mihir Desai- Rona Wilson’s lawyer.
