Bihar: With No Shelter, Toilets, Food or Doctor, Flood Victims Stare At Uncertainty

Bihar is once again battling the floods. Every year 50% of the state’s population is at risk of floods. Despite the government’s claims and promises this problem has been going on for years, nothing changes on ground and the situation remains the same. Due to incessant rains, the districts of North Bihar are devastated. Rivers like Ganga, Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Bagmati and Kosi are flowing above the red mark. Due to this flood water has entered the houses of people. several properties and roads are completely submerged in the water. Wherever you see, there’s floodwater. There are 7 districts in Bihar, which are adjacent to Nepal. These include East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. The effect of the water released from dams in Nepal is being witnessed in these areas. Millions of people have been displaced because of the floods.
