Fire breaks out at Mathuradas Compound in Mumbai

Mumbai: A massive fire broke out at a residential unit in a chawl at Mathuradas Mill compound in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area on Thursday morning.

At around 10.50 am fire broke out a residential unit located opposite Toit Brewery inside the crowded Mathuradas Mill Compound, next to Lodha Supremus building, on Senapati Bapat Marg in Lower Parel (West), according to initial reports.

People from nearby offices rushed to the spot with fire extinguishers and sand buckets.The fire department was called immediately after the incident took place.

The reason stated behind the fire is the short circuit in the air-conditioning unit, a final confirmation from the fire department is still awaited.

No casualties are yet been reported in the incident.

Earlier around 15 people were killed and as many injured after a major fire engulfed a building in Kamala Mills Compound in Lower Parel.
