“Amidst the Gyanvapi Masjid-Kashi Vishwanath Temple dispute of Varanasi, now the Taj Mahal of Agra is also in the news. A petition was filed in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court regarding the Taj Mahal, in which it was said that 22 rooms of the Taj Mahal should be opened so that it can be acertained whether there are idols and inscriptions of hindu gods and goddesses inside it.
In fact, the Taj Mahal, made of a unique style of Persian, Indian and Islamic architecture, is said to be a sign of love. It is claimed that Mughal emperor Shah Jahan got it built in white marble on the banks of the Yamuna in the memory of his wife Mumtaz. But As much as its beauty, the Taj Mahal remained in the news for many controversies around it. Shah Jahan died in 1666, but the dispute still continues.
A petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court, seeking a fact-finding inquiry into the “”history”” of the Taj Mahal, and also opening of the doors of its “”22 rooms”” to see “”the truth, whatever it is””.
The writ petition was filed on Saturday in the registry of the Lucknow bench of the High Court by Rajneesh Singh, who is the media in-charge of the BJP’s Ayodhya unit. The petition would come up before the court for a hearing after it is passed by the registry.
The petition states that some Hindu groups and eminent saints are claiming this monument as an old Shiva temple supported by various historians and facts. At the same time, many historians consider it as the Taj Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Some also believe that its real name is Tejo Mahalaya and it appears to be a Jyotirlinga or one of the exquisite Shiva temples. the petition states that it is respectfully submitted that some of the rooms located in the upper and lower part (approximately 22 rooms) of the four-storey building are permanently closed. Historians like PN Oak and crores of Hindu worshipers firmly believe that there is a temple of Lord Shiva in those lock rooms.
