But the Raj Bhavan has put forward a statement that the Chief Minister had invited the Governor to attend it. As reported from the Raj Bhavan, the Governor initially decided to host the RCB team at Raj Bhavan. The Raj Bhavan had called on the Chief Secretary to conduct the felicitation. Rather, they received information that the state government is going to hold an event at the Vidhana Soudha.

The Raj Bhavan officially stated about the information it received. They wrote, “The Chief Minister officially invited the Governor to participate in the Vidhana Soudha event to felicitate RCB players.”

The Siddaramaiah government has firmly defended itself, saying that no incident took place within the Vidhana Soudha. The government also accused the opposition of wrongly using the stampede as an object for political gain.

“Our government has taken the stampede case seriously,” Siddaramaiah said, as he criticised the BJP and the JD(S).

He also said that the stampede was not part of any official event of the government and the Raj Bhavan denied this.

The Karnataka police had warned the state government of moving forward with the event. This was as massive crowds later swarmed outside the stadium in the evening, causing a few people to die. Some people in the crowds got injured.

Siddaramaiah also said that cricketing authorities organised the event and that he was just an attendee.

“It was not organised by the government. I was merely an invitee. The Governor was also invited. I was not invited to the programme at the stadium,”

On the other hand, the BCCI said that it did not even know that anyone was organising such an event.
