‘Vande Mataram is against Islam, we can’t follow it’: Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman in Lok Sabha

New Delhi | With the beginning of the 17th Lok Sabha, controversy have also begun in the Indian parliament, the latest being slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ raised during AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi’s oath.

When the Hyderabad MP was walking towards the mic to take his oath, several BJP MPS started raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘ Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. The Hyderabad didn’t get provoked by these slogans rather Owaisi ended his oath by saying Jai bheem, Jai Meem, Takbeer Allah hu Akbar, Jai Hind.

However few Muslim MPs had a different view about these slogans. Samajwadi Party MP from Uttar Pradesh Sambhal, Shafiqur Rahman Barq after completing his oath said that Vande Mataram is against Islam and we can’t follow it. Ending his oath with ‘Constitution ki Jai’ the Samajwadi Party MP said, “In concern with saying Vande Mataram, it is against Islam we cannot follow it.”
