Congress Queries EC on Mizoram

The Congress expressed concerns to the Election Commission regarding postponing the vote counting date in Mizoram by a day. The original date was scheduled for December 3rd, along with the rest of the four states. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh questioned the delay in this decision in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that political parties had requested the shift over a month ago.

Cash-For-Query Row: Congress MP Writes To Lok Sabha Speaker On Mahua Moitra Proceedings

Akanksha Yadav

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Congress leader in Lok Sabha, has written to Speaker Om Birla urging a reassessment of the Ethics Committee’s actions against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in “cash-for-query” case.

He called for a thorough review of the rules and processes governing parliamentary committees. Mr. Chowdhury highlighted the lack of clear roles for the Privileges Committee and the Ethics Committee, especially concerning penal powers.

Moreover, he emphasized the absence of a defined “unethical conduct” and an undeveloped “code of conduct” despite its mention in Rule 316B of the Rules of Procedure.
