‘Don’t Need U.S. Help for Security Cost’: Prince Harry, Meghan on Trump Tweets

Their spokesperson said in a statement, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources.”

Washington| Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have no plans to ask for help from the U.S. government with security costs, said the couple on Sunday in a statement responding to President Donald Trump’s tweets in which he said that the U.S. will not pay for their security.

In January, the couple had said that they would step away from their royal duties. According to reports, they recently relocated to Los Angeles. On Sunday, Trump had tweeted, “Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

Later, a spokesperson for the couple, said in a statement, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the U.S. government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry, Prince Harry, the grandson of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, had criticized Donald Trump during his 2016 Presidential campaign calling the entire campaign as “misogynistic and divisive”.

Last year when Trump was asked about Meghan’s criticism, he had said, “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.” He had also wished her well in her new life as British Royal.

The couple made an unprecedented announcement in January shocking the royal family that they will step down as senior members of the royal family as they seek freedom from the intense scrutiny they’ve had to face for several years.

They were lately living with their son Archie on Vancouver Island in Canada.

In last month, Canada had said that it would not provide the security to the couple once they were not the working members of the Royal family.
