India Spent Eight Lakh US Dollars For Promoting Hindi In UN

New Delhi: India paid eight lakh US Dollars for promoting Hindi Language in United Nations. India’s Permanent Deputy Representative R Ravindra handed over a check to Mita Hosali, Deputy Director and Officer-in-Charge (News and Media Department) of the United Nations Department of Global Communications.

India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations tweeted on Tuesday, “India has contributed 8 lakh US dollars to continue promoting Hindi @United Nations.”

The mission further said that Indian Government of India is making constant efforts to increase the scope of use of Hindi in the United Nations.

The ‘Hindi @ United Nations’ project was started in the year 2018 in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Public Information. The purpose of it is to promote the reach of the United Nations in Hindi language.

The United Nations Global India is also a partner in the Department of Communications (DGC) since 2018. It provides extra budgetary support for DGC’s broadcast of mainstream news and multimedia content in Hindi. Since 2018, UN news in Hindi is broadcast on the United Nations website and its social media handles on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The audio bulletin of ‘United Nations News-Hindi’ is broadcast every week. Its web link is available on United Nations Hindi News website.
