Akhilesh Yadav Quits As MP, Likely To Become LoP In UP

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has quit as an MP, after being elected in the recent Uttar Pradesh election.

Yadav move has brought down the number of Samajwadi Party members in parliament to four. This reveals his plan to cement his position as main challenger to the BJP and Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh.

In the 2019 national elections, the Samajwadi Party had won five Lok Sabha seats.

From eastern UP’s Azamgarh, Akhilesh Yadav was an MP. In the March April Polls, he had contested the state election for the first time from Karhal.

Sources have said that the former CM is intending to take on BJP as opposition leader in UP assemblyeyeing on the 2027 UP polls.

In the UP Elections, Akhilesh Yadav was the main rival of BJP. But unfortunately, his party won only 111 seats in the 403-member assembly. BJP won 255 seats on its own and 273 with allies.

However, the Samajwadi Party registered a massive increase from 47 seats in 2017, winning 32.06 per cent votes.
