Gyanvapi Mosque Row: “Survey Report Not Ready,” Says Assistant Court Commissioner, Might Not Present Today At Court

New Delhi: Survey Report of Gyanvapi Masjid might not be presented in the Court today. Assistant Court Commissioner Ajay Singh said, “The survey report has not been prepared yet. After going through videos and photographs the report will be prepared. Next date will be sought for submission of report.

“The three-day survey explored all aspects. The survey report was slated to be submitted to court today. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, the report could not be readied. Hence, it will not be submitted today [Tuesday],” he said.

He said that they will be seeking another date to file the report.

“Many photographs and lengthy footage were collected during the survey by multiple teams,” he said.

The discovery of Shivling on the Gyanvapi Masjid-Kashi Vishwanath temple complex in Varanasi during a court-mandated survey on Monday, has given more spark to the mandir-masjid debate.

On Tuesday (May 17), the Supreme Court is expected to hear a petition from the mosque management committee, Anjuman-e-Intezamia. It is appealing a lower court’s order for a videography survey of the mosque complex, claiming that it violates the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.

US Presidential Advisory Commission Votes To Process All Green Cards In Six Months Time Period

Ashmita Chhabria

Washington: A US Presidential Advisory Commission has voted to recommend President Joe Biden to process all applications for green cards or permanent residency. The period to do so should be six months.

The suggestion has been sent to the White House for approval. Recommendations of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders( PACAANHPI) if adopted is likely to bring cheers to tens of thousands of Indian-Americans. It is also great news for those who are waiting for a long for a Green Card.

During the meeting of PACAANHPI, a proposal of doing so was moved by eminent Indian-American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria. The proposal got approval from its 25 commissioners unanimously.

The proceedings of the meeting here in the national capital was webcast live last week.

For reducing the pending green card backlog, the advisory commission recommended US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to review their processes, systems, and policies. It also asked them to establish new internal cycle time goals by streamlining processes, removing redundant steps if any, automating any manual approvals, improving their internal dashboards and reporting system, and enhancing policies.

It also asked National Visa Center (NVC) State Department facility to hire additional officers to increase their capacity to process green card applications interviews by 100 percent in three months from August 2022, and to increase Green card applications visa interviews and adjudicate decisions by 150 percent – up from capacity of 32,439 in April 2022 – by April 2023.

“Thereafter Green Card visa interviews and visa processing timeline should be a maximum of six months,” it said.

They are aiming to make staying and earning in the country easier for immigrants. The commission recommended that USCIS should review requests for work permits, travel documents, and temporary status extensions or changes within three months and adjudicate decisions.
