“Maintain Dignity”: Viral Dancing Video Of JDU MLA Triggers Party Members

Patna: In a video extensively shared on social media, an MLA from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party was caught giving a flying kiss and throwing cash in the air while dancing with a young woman at a wedding in his area. The politician has reportedly been ordered to “behave” and “keep the dignity” of his position by an embarrassed Janata Dal United (JDU).

In the video, Gopal Mandal, a member of the Bihar Assembly from Bhagalpur, is seen raising his kurta and clutching the hands of the woman hired as an entertainer.

The MLA’s antics were allegedly caught on camera at a wedding event in Fatehpur village in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district.

The JDU MLA was seated on the stage when he got up and began dancing with the woman, according to reports. He was briefly joined by two men who sat beside him.

Faced with criticism and reprimands from his party, Gopal Mandal later defended himself, blaming his actions on his passion for dance.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had previously asked him why he danced in public, to which he replied that he felt a “uncontrollable” impulse to do so anytime he heard music.

“No one can stop an artiste from dancing,” he said he had told the Chief Minister.

Umesh Kushwaha, President of the JD(U) Bihar Unit, has urged the legislator to “behave and respect the dignity of the chair.”

Mr Mandal isn’t the first person to make a public spectacle of himself. In February, the Bihar MLA was photographed at a wedding celebration dancing to the Bollywood hit “Dilliwali Girlfriend.”

Last year, Mr Mandal made headlines for wandering around in his underwear on a train voyage. The minister stated he had a “upset stomach” at the time.

“I was suffering from dysentery. As soon as the journey began I felt the need to go to the washroom. So I ripped off my kurta and pyjama and made a dash to the toilet,” he had said.
