“Sangh considers all 130 crore Indians as Hindus”: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Mohan Bhagwat said the RSS regards the 130 crore population of India as Hindu society, irrespective of their religion and culture

Hyderabad: Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Wednesday India’s salvation will not happen through politics and political leaders but through good society and Hindutva.

On Wednesday RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was the chief guest at the ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ at Sharoornagar Stadium in Hyderabad. Around 20,000 Sangh workers attended the meeting.

Mohan Bhagwat said the RSS regards the 130 crore population of India as Hindu society, irrespective of their religion and culture.

“The son of mother India, whether he may speak any language, from any region, follow any form of worship or not believing in the worship of any is a Hindu. According to Sangh, all the 130 crore people of India are Hindu society,” Mohan Bhagwat said.

Mohan Bhagwat then referred to Rabindranath Tagore’s essay ‘Swadeshi Sabha‘ and said that the nature of the Indian society is to move towards unity. The RSS Sarsanghchalak borrowed the words of Nobel laureate poet Ravindranath Tagore, who according to him, wrote in his ‘Swadeshi Samaj’ that “despite some inherent contradictions between the Hindus and Muslims. Hindu society is capable of finding solutions in a Hindu way to unite the country. This is the Hindu thoughts, and cultural values define as the way of life.”

However, he quickly clarified who is a Hindu. “Irrespective of religion and culture, people who have the nationalistic spirit and respect Bharat’s culture and heritage are Hindus, and RSS considers the 130 crore people of the country as Hindus. The entire society is ours and RSS aims to build such a united society.”

Bhagwat was speaking at an event to mark RSS-Telangana’s Vijay Sankalp Shibir, a three-day camp for the RSS to extend plans for the state. Bhagwat addressed a massive gathering at Saroornagar Stadium which saw the participation of over 8,500 RSS workers from across the state. The three-day camp will conclude on Thursday.

Mohan Bhagwat, speaking about the Vijay Sankalp, pointed out that swayamsevaks work for the development and success of the country, without any selfish motive and without taking any credit, name or fame serve the society.

“Unfortunately the world is filled with tamasik and rajasik forces; Bharatiya culture alone is capable of achieving Dharma Vijay and such an organized Hindu society can guide the world as a vishwa-guru. People of Sattvik nature are positive and work for society with a constructive approach, irrespective of the challenges and constraints. When we get success in this manner, we achieve “Dharma Vijay”, Bhagwat explained.

“RSS is not just an organization but to organize and strengthen the society with the right culture and social values. People always look towards great leaders and governments for development. But it is everybody’s responsibility to work towards the country with dedication.”
