New Delhi: The technical committee created by the Supreme Court has been given four weeks to produce its report on the Pegasus row inquiry.
The technical committee’s work should be completed by the end of May, according to a bench led by Chief Justice N V Ramana, and the supervising judge should be notified after that.
The supervising judge would then study and finalise the technical committee’s report, and submit it to the court for the perusal of the bench by June 20, 2022, the bench said.
“Standard operating procedure for testing the ‘infected devices’ will be finalised too,” the Supreme Court said.
The technical committee informed the Supreme Court that it had tested 29 cellphones for malware and had recorded the statements of various petitioners, activists, and journalists.
The Supreme Court will hear the case again in July 2022.
In October of last year, the Supreme Court launched an investigation into the alleged deployment of spyware.
