People Living In Places Consider Farmers As Enemies: PM Modi

New Delhi: Addressing the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi questions, why people in power for generations and sit in palaces, consider small-scale farmers as their enemies? He says that we have to empower farmers.

PM Modi says, “People who have been in power for generations and sit in palaces, I want to ask them why they think of small farmers as their enemy? We have to empower our small farmers. Our focus is on them. But those who don’t know the pain of small farmers don’t have any right to do politics in the name of the farmers.”

Further, he says that the opposition has issues with ‘Make-in-India’ as it means the end of kickbacks. He said, “They have a problem with ‘Make-in-India’ because it means the end of commissions and kickbacks. They could not succeed, so won’t let the country succeed.”

Further, he cites Jawaharlal Nehru’s words to tackle criticism on price rise. “The first PM said that if something happens in Korea, then it can impact prices here. Imagine how serious a problem it was then. We don’t give up like that,” he says.

The Opposition has raised the issue of inflation here, it would have been better if they have raised that matter while their government was in power, says PM. “During pandemic too, our government tried to tackle inflation. During 2014-2020 the inflation rate was below 5%,” Modi says.

PM Modi said that during UPA, inflation was in double digits. P Chidambaram, who now writes columns, had said in 2012 that people are okay with the cost of water bottles and biscuits but don’t like it even when the cost of grains goes up by Re 1.

Slamming the Congress PM says, “The Congress won several elections due to their ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan but failed to do that. Then the poor of this country voted them out.”

He says that Congress has a ‘Divide and Rule’ policy and it has become the leader of the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang. He said, “Congress has attempted to hurt the sentiments of citizens of Tamil Nadu, it wants to divide and rule the country… I want to salute Tamil Nadu citizens who lined the streets for hours to pay tribute to CDS General Bipin Rawat. ‘Divide and rule is in their DNA.”
