Devendra Fadnavis holds a closed-door meeting with Shiv Sena’s Anant Geete after TDP pulls out of NDA

This meeting was an initiative so as to reach out to Shiv Sena, BJP’s age-old ally since the TDP had pulled out of NDA this morning that was earlier led by BJP.

Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister conducted a closed-door meeting with Anant Geete the Shiv Sena leader this morning at a guest house in Mumbai as war footing seems to have been set in whole of Delhi surrounding the no-confidence motions against the Modi government by the parties of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress of Andhra Pradesh.

As per the reports, this meeting was an initiative so as to reach out to Shiv Sena, BJP’s age-old ally since the TDP had pulled out of NDA this morning that was earlier led by BJP. Raosaheb Danve BJP state chief and chief minister of Maharashtra who was also there in the meeting held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai reportedly tried convincing the Shiv Sena to back the government even if the no-trust votes are held.

On the other hand, the sources of Shiv Sena stated that they have to yet to call the shots that whether or not it will support the Modi government which on its face does not seem to be in any danger as of now. The BJP single-handedly has a team of total 274 lawmakers and has 543 members in the Lok Sabha whereas the majority mark stands at 272. More so, the Modi government still has 315 lawmakers, down 16 after TDP pulled out.

Moreover, the number of members that the Shiv Sena has in the Lok Sabha is 18. The party had recently announced that it will fight the elections in the year 2019 alone. The announcement happened after months of seeing constant tensions rising between the two parties, where Shiv Sena kept on planting attacks on the BJP along with the central government of which it is still an active part.
