PM Modi is in Gandhinagar, currently on a two-day visit to Gujarat
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized Pakistan for its supporting cross-border terrorism. PM Modi spoke while in Gandhinagar, being on a two-day visit to Gujarat.
He also said that India does not want to talk to Pakistan about anything, except terrorism. On the other hand, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif had said Pakistan is ready for talks. He is in Iran currently.
Modi said, “We want to stay in peace, and let others live in peace. But when our strength is challenged through proxy war, we can’t stay silent.”
He then stated, “Earlier, we used to call it a proxy war. However, after the scenes we witnessed after May 6, we no more call it a proxy war,” the Prime Minister said, adding, “This is because we destroyed multiple of their terror camps in just 22 minutes.”
“…It was a decisive action. And this time, everything was done in front of the cameras, so that no one back home would ask for proof,” Modi also said.
Modi said, “The funerals of terrorists in Pakistan were conducted with state honours, their coffins were wrapped in Pakistani flags, while the country’s army gave them a salute.”
“This proves that terrorism is not a proxy war, but a war strategy by Pakistan. We will answer accordingly,” Modi added.
PM Modi Takes Dig At Nehru
Before this, he also took a concealed dig at India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, while speaking.
Modi said, “In 1947, when Maa Bharti was partitioned, ‘katni chahiye thi zanjeerein par kaat di gayi bhujayein’.” He then said, “On that very night, the first terrorist attack took place in Kashmir,” and then accused Pakistan of seizing “a part of Maa Bharti… using terrorists in the name of Mujahideen.”
He then added, “Sardar Patel’s wish was that until we get PoK, our armed forces should not stop. But no one listened to him and now we have been facing this (terrorism) for the last 75 years. Pahalgam was also an example of it.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Pawan Khera responded to Modi’s comments.
Khera said, “He has no idea of history or basic democratic courtesy. What were his ideological forefathers doing in 1947? They were criticising Patel, burning his effigies, making cartoons of Sardar Patel, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, the famous cartoon of Ravan with ten heads. Don’t take the PM seriously.”
