The Karnataka Cabinet approved the implementation of the Karnataka Water Security and Disaster Resilience Programme (KWSRDP) at Rs 5,000 crore.
The process will be approved by the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, and a loan agreement will be signed with the financial institution. The World Bank will provide a Rs 3,500 crore loan for the project.
In a meeting on Thursday, the cabinet authorised the Department of Revenue (Disaster Management) to implement the programme.
The Cabinet note stated, “Since the points on which the Governor has sought clarifications involve legal aspects, consulting with the relevant stakeholders is appropriate. A comprehensive review is advisable.”
