The Co-WIN portal, meant to be used for registering for the COVID vaccination drive faced an outage minutes after lakhs of people thronged the website to register themselves for the vaccine. The registration for individuals above 18+ began at 4 pm today.

Another major hurdle that many users who got through the registration process said that the portal showed “no slots available” for the May 1 drive.

The official handle of Aarogya Setu, GOI’s contact tracing app, clarified in a tweet that CoWIN portal’s servers had been fixed and also added that the schedule will be possible once the State Governments and Private Vaccination Centers schedule Vaccination sessions.

Meanwhile, India continues to struggle with both, COVID-19 cases and the vaccination drive. It reported 3,60,960 cases and 3300 deaths in the last 24 hours. On the vaccination front, several states have complained about the shortage of doses, closed many vaccination centers, and weren’t sure if the liberalized vaccination drive can take place as per schedule on May 1.
